During your stay in Indonesia, you will find that the electrical outlets are similar to the European ones and that the voltage is 220V. You will have no trouble connecting your electrical devices.
However, power cuts can occur without warning and can last just a few minutes or sometimes a few hours. Don’t hesitate to slip a torch in your luggage to avoid spending hours in the dark if the cut is during the night.
We recommend that you bring a portable USB charger to connect to your mobile phone in order to always be able to capture and share your experiences!
The Indonesian rupiah (IDR) is the currency used since 1949. A very weak currency, you will enjoy a modest cost of living in Indonesia compared to the one you know in western countries.
It is not necessary to change your money into rupiah before your arrival. Once in the archipelago, exchange rates are more advantageous. The exchange offices at the airport are legal and honest; however, you will find better rates in larger cities. But beware: there are many illegal exchange offices that do not hesitate to rip off travellers.
Ask your Travel Expert or driver to recommend you a legal and honest exchange office during your stay. It is strongly advised to recount your money before leaving one of them.
You can also easily withdraw money from the ATM. Don’t forget to advise your bank before you leave to avoid having your card blocked and to find out the fees charged for overseas withdrawals. Depending on the ATM, you can withdraw a maximum of 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 rupiah (approximately 100 to 200 euros). Be careful not to forget your card in the machine since some ATMs issue the amount requested before the bank card.
Bank cards are accepted in the vast majority of shops, restaurants and hotels, but the transactions are always taxed.

If you land in Bali, your Travel Expert will give you a local SIM card with enough credit to easily contact your Travel Expert, your driver or your guide during your stay. Make sure to unlock your phone before your trip. You can also call abroad with this phone. If you run out of credit, you can recharge your credit on the internet or at a local telephone shop according to your needs and your budget.
