Accommodation in Indonesia

Luxury hotels

Among the different types of accommodation in Indonesia are the luxury hotels. Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Hyatt Regency… all the big international companies are there. Whether you choose to book a suite or an individual villa, comfort and service are guaranteed. There are luxury hotels everywhere on the archipelago, in the mountains with a balcony overlooking rainforest, in busy cities or by the beach with a breath-taking sea view. Even if you don’t book a room in such a resort, planning just for a day by the pool might a good idea to get some rest during your holiday in Indonesia.

Villas

Renting a villa in Indonesia might be a good option too. Indeed, you can enjoy some privacy with your loved ones as well as a comfortable accommodation. Often maintenance is included and you can book a spa treatment or a meal cooked by a chef. All of this for a very reasonable price, especially if you are sharing the cost with the rest of the party.

Traditional houses

For an off the beaten track stay, why don’t you book a traditional accommodation in Indonesia? The most popular are the joglo, easily recognizable because of the shape of the roof higher in the center. They are traditional Javanese houses but can also be found in Bali or other islands of the archipelago.

Eco-lodges

As country is facing major ecological challenges, eco-lodges are becoming a very popular type of accommodation in Indonesia. Such hotels try their best to protect the fauna and flora of the archipelago by using renewable energies, recycling their waste or monitoring their water consumption. Another way for a resort to be more sustainable is hiring people from the area to boost local economy.

Homestay

Choosing a homestay as your accommodation in Indonesia, even just for a few nights, is the best way to learn about local culture and meet Indonesian people. Staying in a traditional village you might have the opportunity to learn how to cook traditional meals, or work in the paddy fields or attend a religious ceremony with your hosts. A unique off the beaten track experience you won’t forget!
